Computer Based Testing

In March 2008, NCCCO made Computer Based Testing (CBT) available to Mobile Crane Operator candidates nationwide. Since that time the CBT delivery platform has proven to be a reliable and efficient means for candidates to complete the written examinations for the certification they seek.

Since March 2008, NCCCO has made additional programs available through the CBT delivery method and has plans to make all NCCCO written examinations available through CBT.

With over 5000 NCCCO certification exams administered via the CBT platform, this method of exam delivery has become a very convenient and popular method for candidates to complete the written examinations in a very comfortable and secure environment.

Written examinations via Computer Based Testing (CBT) are available for the following NCCCO Certification Programs:

  • Mobile Crane Operator (including recertification exams)
  • Tower Crane Operator (including recertification exams)

Traditional Paper Pencil Testing

Since 1996 NCCCO has offered traditional paper and pencil testing services to candidates pursuing certification in all of its programs. Since that time over 350,000 NCCCO certification exams have been administered in all 50 states by traditional paper and pencil format. NCCCO continues to offer traditional paper and pencil exam administrations, with IAI coordinating nearly 150 written exam test sites across the nation each month.

New to traditional paper and pencil testing is an alternative to submitting the application via mail or fax. IAI can now accept candidate applications for traditional paper and pencil test sites via our online application form. The added convenience of submitting applications via the web is useful to both test site coordinators and individual candidates. This method speeds up the processing of candidate applications and reduces common errors found in the traditional application process.
